Philippine Power: Up for Grabs this Year

The Philippines, through its privatization arm the Power Sector Assets & Liabilities Management Corp. (PSALM), has made a line up of all power facilities that are available for sale this year. And they are the following:
  • 747.5-MW combined Tiwi & Makban geothermal power plants
  • 225-MW Battan thermal power plant
  • 0.8-MW Amlan hydro power plant
  • 168.5-MW combined Panay & Bohol diesel power plants
  • 620-MW Limay diesel power plant
  • 192.5-MW Palinpinon geothermal power plant
  • 112.5-MW Tongonan geothermal power plant
  • 114-MW combined Iligan I & II diesel power plants
  • 150-MW Bacman geothermal power plant
  • 116-MW Subic diesel power plant
  • 108-MW Aplaya decommissioned diesel power plant
  • 22.3-MW General Santos decommissioned diesel power plant
Privatizing at least 70% of state-owned generating assets is one of the preconditions for the implementation of open access and retail competition in the country.
