Today marks the 69th anniversary of the Philippine independence from Japan.
Japan gave independence to the Philippines on Oct. 14, 1943. The independence ceremony was held at the Luneta Park in the City of Manila.
But if you will scrutinize the picture, why is it that the Japanese flag can be seen conspicuously on the background, not the Philippines flag?
This photo was sourced from the book "Japanese Occupation of the Philippines: A Pictorial History", published by the Ayala Foundation Inc. in 1997.
