Philippine auto makers shifting to higher gear

The First Philippine International Motor Show, themed "Shifting to Higher Gear", had made a rousing debut last Aug. 9 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.

Organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI), the event attracted a large segment of discriminating car buyers, traders, hobbyists, aficionados and professionals on its first day. Exhibitors' profile consisted of high-end, reputable and popular car brands, namely: Audi, Chevrolet, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Toyota and Volvo.

However, it's quite disappointing that some top brands weren't able to join the events like BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Mazda and Mercedes Benz. Ferrari too wasn't able to make it to the event, but there is a Ferrari model on display courtesy of Shell.

Nonetheless, the electrifying marketing show, sexy promo girls and latest car models overshadowed the disappointment by some guests as they were being delighted to the synergy of the unfolding events.

This four-day premier auto show will reach an exciting climax on Aug. 12, 2007.
