Intel's Power Plea or Power Play?

There is an information going around that Intel is considering to pull out its operations in the Philippines if it can't get a lower power bill. According to the source, the giant chipmaker asking price is Php 3.50 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) all in – including generation, transmission, distribution, supply, and metering charges.

Current retail price of electricity in the country is ranging from Php7.00/kWh to Php9.00/kWh. There are reports that the executive branch of government, together with power distributor Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO), has an on-going talk with Intel executives.

Now, it's Intel's turn to wield its power over Malacaňang and the Philippines' largest distribution utility. Well, let's just wait and see if Intel is still fully-charged.
